Flowers in the Garden

Good Morning Friends! I had anticipated I would be posting my kitchen reveal today, but alas, it's not quite done yet. 1% to go and then it will be completed. That last step happens on Monday and then I can show you! I will say, I am in love with the transformation. It's so bright and airy now, much better than the cave it felt like before!
Besides DIY, hubs and I really love to work in the yard. Every year we plant and bark. We're working in more perennials than ever before. We have a smallish yard, but even so, annuals every year get pretty spendy.  I LOVE Hostas and Hydrangeas, we have quite a few of each in the shadier parts of the yard. Hubs favorite are Canna's  and Coleus . The funny thing is, we have a REALLY hard time remembering any plant names, so we do a lot of "that plant over there in that square planter thingy". Luminosity is a girls best friend!
Ok, so on to today's pictorial, lot of pictures! I hope you enjoy!

I love the variety of color on the hydrangea's this year. This one is blue, purple and even some green flowers!

The shade garden is one of my favorite parts of the yard!

We just planted the little willow tree above. It's so pretty!
We aren't sure what this thing to the right is. We call it the Purple Poker. Anyone know what it is?

To the far right is an Oakleaf Hydrangea. The flowers are cone shaped and so pretty!

Shane and I call the bush in the background the Black Mamba. I think it's really called a Lace Elderberry, maybe? Ha, words... Notice the cute little Gross Beak on the bird feeder.

Hubs Cannas are absolutely gorgeous when they bloom, but even just the variegated leaves are pretty look at!

This little succulent has a ton of little flowers that open up during the day and close up at night. It's one of my favorite plants in the yard.

That's it for today, guys. I hope you enjoyed the garden tour.  Fingers crossed, I'll be back next week with the kitchen reveal! Everyone have a great week!

"Just some garden photos" she said.

These are beautiful! I only have some Day Lillies flowering at the moment and your yard is a paradise.
You should make a post about those hydrangeas! What species they are, how you care for them, etc etc. I want hydrangeas too but I am not sure if they will grow well in our snowy and cold winters.
Yours are thriving!

Good job guys! That is an awesome garden you have made.

Also: the deck and the fence! They deserve posts of their own. ;)

Thanks you! I'm happy you like them. Thank you for the great post ideas. I get so wrapped up in doing interior posts, that I forget about the outside, LOL!

Thank you, Lela! You are right, it is a LOT of work. I am a lucky lady because hubs loves to work in the yard. We do the initial Spring spruce up which usually takes 2 or 3 weekends. I usually do the dead-heading and he does all of the watering. It's a team effort!

Wow! You have a beautiful garden. Now I want to run out and plant hydrangeas everywhere. Found you at Whimsy Wednesdays.

Thank you, Sarah! I do love hydrangeas! If it wasn't for hubs, the whole yard would probably be planted with just them, haha! Thank you for stopping by!
